When it comes to discussing illegal immigration and halting it we hear, as usual, the lame cries of racist from those inclined to support it.
Sometimes they will also suggest that people against illegal immigration are attempting to restore the white Australia policy.
And with that you could easily suggest the person saying that may be racist themselves. After all what is it they are suggesting? That only white people know how to immigrate legally and other races only know how to immigrate illegally? If we curtail illegal immigration we are stopping the only means non-white people have of immigrating to Australia?
That appears to be what they are thinking. Or it’s just another attempt to stifle debate by suggesting racism where there isn’t any?
Many people of different racial backgrounds have legally immigrated to Australia, many even did so during the white Australia policy so preventing illegal immigration will in no way restore the white Australia policy. Suggesting it will is nonsensical beyond belief.
Some also like to suggest that if you’re against illegal immigration that you’re actually against immigration in general. Even immigration minister Scott Morrison did so when he said we must embrace immigration and trade after recent comments from the public against illegal immigration. The response of many is they are not against immigration, they are against illegal immigration.
The cries of racist from those who advocate illegal immigration can be readily ignored since the issue isn’t race and they know it. Crying racist is just something some people say when they hear a viewpoint that does not agree with their own.
The cries of racism need to stop and a full and open debate on the issue of immigration is needed.
